2014 Stained Glass Mosaic Class

As many of you know I will be teaching a Stained Glass Mosaic Class at the Art Garage in Denver at the beginning of next year.  It will be a four week long class for beginners where the students will learn the basics of stained glass mosaics while creating and completing their own, unique compositions.

  2. Thanks Ramona! I wish you could attend as well. What region do you live in? Maybe I'll be teaching a class near you in the future.

Where do you get your tools?

    1. Hi,
Thank You! I am planning to start teaching classes in out of state later in 2014. Currently I am making a list of locations where my potential students are through out the United States so I can plan for future classes. Is there anything in particular you are interested in learning. In regards to my tools, I have a couple of different whole sale accounts with different companies. One that I would highly recommend, which you don't have to have a whole sale account with but it has really good prices is Delphi Glass in Michigan. They have a great website and a good costumer service. You can find them easily by googling. If you'd like me to let you know when I may be planning a class in your area, you can send me your email address to kpolkowska@gmail.com or you can follow my facebook page Kasia Mosaics where I post all the most up-to-date info in regards to my work and future classes: https://www.facebook.com/KasiaMosaics
Thanks for checking out my blog and for commenting!

  4. I think your work is stunning! I love glass, I love nature - and working with stained glass brings me so much peace. I wish you'd teach a class in Massachusetts. I'm so drawn to your work. I watched a video of you prepping a piece on YouTube and am so curious as to what you put down on your board before you begin placing your pieces. It was amazing to watch you cut through your sections and pull up the glass. How do you do that??? I think you're amazing and if I could ever, even be .5% as good as you, I'd be so happy!!! Thank you for your creations...they touch my soul! Patty McHugh - Massachusetts

    1. Hi Patty,
Thank you for your wonderful comment Patty! I lay my glass loosely on top of my sketch and then I as I make progress, I lay clear tape over the top of the mosaic. I do this until the whole composition it taped together on the face. Then I carefully smooth over the tape to make sure it holds the glass well. Then I transfer my mosaic in sections onto the substrate which is covered with glue. Then I gently pat down every little piece of glass to make sure it makes good contact with the glue. Once the glue cures, 24 hrs sometimes more, then I peel the tape and grout. Hope that clears it up =) You can read more about my process on my FAQ page which I created just for these kind of questions: http://kasiamosaicsfaq.blogspot.com/ I hope that you have a creative year and that you keep improving with each new piece you make - that's how I keep growing, each new mosaic I make makes me a better artist. Maybe one day I will teach a class near you, who knows =) Then it would be a pleasure to meet you!

      All the Best,
      Kasia
