My new mountain cabin series is inspired by one of my favorite views around Molas Pass near Silverton Colorado. A tiny wooden cabin is nestled on a hill against the striking San Juan Mountains. It is one of the most photographed structures in the area. I love camping in this area in the Summer and Fall and look forward to a stroll to the cabin or at least a quick glimpse if we are driving to our campsite or a scenic hike.
I painted 4 different views of the cabin, just loosely basing it
off my old photos. I set the cabin in a lush Summery landscape and I hope
that each view inspires folks to head out to the mountains to explore
and find an old historic cabin of their own to fall in love with. Or
perhaps it can be a reminder of a memorable family stay in a mountain
cottage under the vast sky filled with innumerable stars! Or maybe another quaint view along a trail like in the photo below that I've taken on a favorite hike in Pagosa Springs where I live.
As you scroll down through the photos, take a closer look at the detail of the sky picture near the bottom of the post – there is a very subtle glimmer added with tiny specs of glitter. In person it is very slight but adds a touch of magic.
