As you can see above, this painting has one of my favorite color palettes. I am standing here at my private Mystic Valley Sculpture Park in Mosca, Colorado next to my 7ft tall sculpture 'Artemis'. My partner Kyle sculptured the owl form while I designed and created the hand cut stained glass mosaic along with all the handmade ceramic tiles I created in my home studio. Those blues and greens are so yummy in the summer!
This painting is inspired by incredible views of the milky way that can be experienced in remote regions of the Mountain West during the Summer months when the alpine landscape is lush and green. I’ve included a few photos from such a place - a local hike here in Pagosa Springs that I enjoy last year with a friend. It’s called Fourmile Falls and the view and vegetation along the 8 mile trail are breathtaking. We might backpack here with the kids this summer to check out the night sky in one of the meadows in the photos included here.
