Turquoise Lotus Flower

Turquoise Lotus Flower, stained glass mosaic on board, 22" x 22" (23" x 23"), 2013 ~SOLD

Here is a look at the beginning stages of the project.

I hand cut all the petals by these three basic glass tools.

A closer look at the center, created with all hand cut circles.

The mosaic is all glued and the tape is peeled away.

Grouting is my favorite part of the process!

  1. Kasia,
When you grout, do you cover the little circles in the center, or do you just grout them with the rest? It is so lovely.
    Thanks,

    1. Hi Judy,
When I grout, I don't cover any particular section (for instance the circles in this mosaic). Rather I grout the whole thing together all at once. I make sure not to let the grout dry too much, just let it set enough where you can see its beginning to dry (it starts looking hazy and shows that its drying). Then I get to it and start wiping it away while its still workable, that way I can carefully reveal all the little circles without the grout solidifying over them (if that happens, its much more labor intensive to remove it and to reveal all the details). Hope this helps!
      All the Best,
      Kasai

  2. Can you please tell me what the names of the colors are that you used and where you purchased them from?
